Testimonials - Climbing Club

  • Despite the original look of trepidation on her face, my daughter Jessica thoroughly enjoyed her session on Friday, (came home absolutely exhilarated, and can’t wait to have another go). I would like to book her in for some more sessions.

  • I would just say as a parent what a great success the Geckos climbing club has been for my son. He was a boy who did not really gel with the trad. ‘football/rugby/cricket’ and we were thinking that he would never find a sport where he could explore his physical potential. Well that was until climbing and Geckos. The result has been amazing in terms of his inner confidence, working in partnership with others and his physicality. He has sprouted a lean strong frame which he has trust in. He has been on an outdoor climbing course in Wales this summer (his first solo outing away from us). He has done work experience at the climbing centre and also been instrumental in persuading his school to start its first climbing club. I rest my case.

  • (My daughter) isn’t a particularly sporty kid, and I think gets a bit side-lined in school sports, which is a shame. It does sometimes seem that if a child’s not extra talented at sport, no one bothers to get them to see all the benefits it brings beyond just competitive success. Clearly not the case at Geckos, as she’s learning to do it for the sheer pleasure. Thank you, she says it’s the highlight of her week.

  • We would like to thank you all at Geckos for being so great with our son since he joined up. The last few years since he started losing his sight have been very hard for him and he lost a lot of confidence and would not try new things and found meeting new people very challenging. His climbing is really helping him overcome a lot of those feelings and it’s great to see him walking around The Castle like he is part of it and is happy. Best wishes.

  • I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for overseeing our girl B these past few years. I can’t overestimate the benefits she has gained from the experience and the outings will remain with me as great times in her childhood. I guess that her attendance at the Castle will now be rather more arbitrary but her vanity will drive her to take the exercise. I shall miss my walk up from the city to get her Fridays. I have seen the climbing centre transform since I first went there and wish you continued success with the club.
